Day four

My laser-correction experience

Today was the worst. I was supposed to go on a ride with a couple friends this morning. I left a message last night that unless things improved, I wouldn't be going. But I was really hoping that I would be ok enough to ride for an hour before church. No dice. When I got up and took the eye shields off, the sunlight coming in through the bathroom window was unbearable. When I did get my eyes open long enough to gauge my vision, I could see pretty clearly with a little haziness. But even after 15-20 minutes of trying to get my eyes to adjust to the light, I still needed to wear sunglasses indoors.

Over the next hour, the weirdness from last night returned even worse. Even knowing that I was right on schedule and due for a bad day, it was a little unnerving to be so impaired. I went to church and had dark sunglasses on the whole time. Getting there was a trip. I had sunglasses on, a baseball hat, and my hands cupped around the visor. With all that and my eyes shut tight, the light was still uncomfortable! After we got back home, I spent the rest of the day either sleeping or looking like I was sleeping.

Aside from a brief time this evening that felt like I had something in my left eye, I've not had any real discomfort. Occasionally at night, I can tell that my eyes have dried out and the contact bandages get sticky. Other than that, recovery has been pain free.

I'm supposed to go to work tomorrow, but it ain't looking good. I'm typing this out in 20 font with my face about three inches from the screen. I'd love to get in and catch up from missing a couple days last week. The bandages come off tomorrow too. I'm looking real forward to that.
