I don't know what this will turn into, if anything. It's just that life has been pretty full lately. After nine years with the same company, I got off-shored after the first of the year. In my initial plans for marketing myself to the industry, I thought making my resume available via my own website might be a good idea. I never did get that done. I found a great job pretty quickly. But even after starting the new job, I was still interested in having a place to share some thoughts...especially with out-of-state friends and family. I got to talking to my friend Tommy about different blogs and found one that's java-based. My new employer is a java shop. So I thought I would give this a go.

Call it stupid and maybe a bit decadent, but I rewarded myself for finding work relatively quickly by spending a little of my severance on a big flat-screen TV. Our new Samsung 46" LCD HDTV showed up on Friday. We spent the day yesterday driving all over creation looking for a piece of furniture for this glorious hunk of electronics to sit on. After six hours of shopping and a race against the closing time for Jordan's Furniture's distribution center, The Boy helped me get everything setup last night. It was awesome to break it in with an hour or so of Discovery Channel HD followed by UFC 70 free on Spike TV. All I can say is WOW!
